Financial aid
Unfortunately, there is limited aid available for international students who want to study in undergraduate programs in the U.S. However, there are approximately 125 universities and colleges that do give financial assistance to international students (see list below). Please note that most aid for international students is based on a combination of merit and need. Most schools are not need-blind for international students; i.e. ability to pay is a factor in the admissions decision. There are some schools that are need blind for international students (ability to pay is not a factor in the admissions decision) such as Harvard, Yale, MIT, Princeton, and Middlebury. Also, many of the schools listed below have a minimum amount that students are expected to pay toward their tuition, room, and board- for specific information regarding a college\'s financial aid policy for international students, consult their website. As part of the admissions procedure for international students, forms such as the Certification of Finance Form and Financial Aid for International Students Form are required- again refer to the website information for a particular university to determine which forms are required and the due dates. Additional resources regarding scholarships for international students are available in the College Counseling office. See Mr. Will for details. This is an excellent site for international students wanting to study in the USA and includes information on financing college, passports and visas, loans and scholarships for international students. Schools with Financial Aid for International Undergraduate Students Some U.S. schools are more likely than others to offer financial aid for international undergraduate students. The lists below indicate which schools offer aid (including grants, loans, and jobs) to the largest numbers of international students. The lists are based on a list compiled by Douglas C. Thompson, U.S. Admissions Representative at the University of Aberdeen. To be included in the following lists, the schools must have an average award that is greater than 1/5 of the cost of attendance. The financial aid may include grants, loans, and jobs, and often includes both merit and need-based awards. Within each group, schools are listed in alphabetical order. If a school is not listed here, it probably does not have much financial aid for international students. However, it is worth noting that some schools may have athletic scholarships that are open to both international students and US students. The lists below do not count the number of athletic scholarships awarded to international students. Also, remember that these are not the only schools that offer financial assistance to international students; just the ones that offer the most aid. Schools with Awards to More than 150 Students
Schools with Awards to 100-149 Students
