How to obtain and send SAT, TOEFL, and ACT Scores Including International Test Dates

TOEFL® iBT Scores Overview

Your TOEFL test fee includes:
1 test taker's score report
Up to 4 official score reports, which are sent by ETS directly to institutions or agencies that you select.

How to Earn a Score

To earn a score on the TOEFL test, you must do all of the following:

  • answer at least 1 question in the Reading section
  • answer at least 1 question in the Listening section
  • write at least 1 essay in the Writing section
  • finish at least 1 task in the Speaking section

You will receive a score on each section and a total score for the entire test. You will also receive feedback on your performance and a description of tasks that test takers can do within the score range for each level.

For more information, see the Performance Feedback Brochure (PDF).

There is no passing or failing score; score requirements are established by individual institutions or agencies. TOEFL iBT scores are valid for 2 years after the test date.

View and Send Scores

To view your scores on the Web, click the View and Send Scores button above and sign in to visit your SAT after 8 a.m. Eastern Time on or after the dates listed above. From there you can see your entire score history and a history of all score recipients to which you have previously sent scores. Please note that a small number of scores take longer to report and may not be available on the dates listed here.

Updating Your Score Recipients

You can make changes to your score recipients easily in your My SAT account. When you register, you can send four score reports at no cost. You can change these score recipients until 11:59 PM (EST) on the Monday one week after your scheduled test date.

My SAT Online Score Report

My SAT Online Score Report is available free to every student who takes the SAT—all you need is an online College Board account.

While you'll still receive your printed SAT score report in the mail, My SAT Online Score Report shows you more about how you performed on each section of the SAT Reasoning Test™. It gives you the types of questions, level of difficulty, and how many in each group of questions you answered correctly, incorrectly, or omitted. Percentile information has also been enhanced to give you better comparisons with other groups of test-takers.

My Online Score Report helps you to:

  • Understand specifics about how the test is structured and scored, including the writing section and the essay.
  • Get detailed insights into how you performed on each section of the test, including responses by question type and difficulty.
  • See how your scores compare to the scores of students in your school, state, and nationally.
  • Search for the right colleges, majors, and careers based on your scores.
  • Work on improving your scores on a future test through targeted preparation and links to SAT® Skills Insight™.
  • View a printable copy of your actual essay response and see sample essays that received various scores.

Send SAT Scores

In addition to the score reports you chose to send when you registered for the SAT, you can send scores to other colleges and scholarship programs for an additional fee. We will report scores that are available and reportable at the time your request is received.

Only score reports from completed and scored tests will be sent. You can only send scores that appear next to test dates on your SAT Status page. Scores from future tests for which you have registered, but have not yet completed, will not be included.

Scores are mailed to you, and the additional colleges and programs requested, approximately four weeks after we process your request. Please remember that an additional week may be needed for the score recipients to process your scores, once they receive them.

All available scores will be sent, including those from previous test administrations. You cannot send only your latest or highest SAT Reasoning Test scores, or separate scores for critical reading or mathematics or writing, or only SAT Reasoning Test or only SAT Subject Tests scores.

Rush reporting is available for an additional fee. Rush scores are sent two business days after your request is received. Be sure to check with the institutions before requesting this service: not all colleges can accept rush reporting.

Remember, most colleges and universities require official score reports sent from the College Board.

Additional Information

Your official printed score report will be mailed to you, your high school, and to colleges and scholarship programs designated on your Registration Form about five weeks after the test.

You may also get your SAT scores with Scores by Phone. An additional fee applies.

How Soon Scores Are Ready

Most scores are available online within 2½ weeks after each national test date. Your scores are not reported any faster if you view them online. Score reports are usually mailed to your home within 3 to 8 weeks after each test date. If you took Writing, your score report will be mailed only after your Writing scores are available, normally 2 weeks after your multiple-choice scores (within 5 to 8 weeks after the test date).

Please Note

If you tested through Special, Arranged, Project, or DANTES testing, your scores are not available for viewing online.

If you tested through State testing during spring 2008, your scores from that administration will be added about one week after you receive your ACT score report in the mail.

Beginning mid-October 2008, if you test through Special Testing, you can also view your scores online about a week after your official score report arrives.

ACT keeps all of your test information confidential! We cannot give scores to anyone by phone, email, or fax.

Once you know your scores

You may want to order another copy for yourself or send them to more colleges or scholarship agencies.

We have a separate record for each test date. ACT does not create new records by averaging scores from different test dates. If you ask us to send a report to a college, we will release only the record for the test date you choose.
